Sacred Power Corporation completes 4 Renewable Energy/Energy Efficient Homes Santa Ana Pueblo's Tamaya Housing Inc. Turns Keys over to new Homeowners

Sacred Power Corporation, a native-American owned and operated renewable energy manufacturing/construction firm announced today the completion of 4ea. 1,600 sq. ft. 3-4 bedroom homes in a "Key Ceremony" in which the Santa Ana Pueblo Tamaya Housing Inc. officially handed the keys to the new homeowners. Says Robert Ortiz, Board Chairman, "we are very excited to be able to offer our clients these new homes which will include affordable energy rates."
The homes culminate a 5 year effort by Sacred Power to incorporate renewable energy and energy efficient technology into HUD homes to achieve Zero-energy sum usage for the low-income home-owners.
The homes feature 2kW PV arrays; 40k BTU solar thermal systems; increased "R" rating insulation; compact fluorescent lighting; and Energy Star-rated appliances and HVAC systems.
Sacred Power first promulgated the idea of incorporating "Green technology" into HUD homes to reduce the economic burden of utility bills on low-income folks 5 years ago by trying to partner with existing general contractor home builders in the bidding process at least 3 times, but were always shut out or scratched out cited as "too expensive."
Sacred Power attained a GB-98 and created its own Construction Division.
Odes Armijo-Caster. VP-COO, said, "we hired Leonard Baca, experienced contractor and put him to work bidding and winning construction projects." One of the major events contributing to the success of this project was the lowing of renewable energy industry component prices. "It's a great time to be a buyer of renewable energy systems," says Armijo-Caster.
One of the major points to make was to show HUD in Washington, DC, that low-income HUD homes could be built with renewable and energy efficiency technology at a competitive price. Says David Melton, Pres/CEO, "we want HUD to specify this technology into all homes let for bid. Tamaya Housing Inc. and us showed them how it can be done at a competitive price. We also want to show the general housing community that all homes should include renewable and energy efficiency technology, citing its competitive price per square foot."
